History
Our firm was founded in 1975 by Bob Blackburn and Alf Stong, two young lawyers with deep ties to Richmond Hill and the surrounding area. They named their new firm Stong & Blackburn.
They were soon joined by Bruce Machon and the firm name changed to Stong, Blackburn & Machon. With hard work and quality service, the firm’s status and reputation grew.
Ron Bohm joined the firm in 1988, greatly enhancing the firm’s civil litigation practice. (Ron is currently President of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.) The firm name soon changed to Stong Blackburn Machon Bohm.
Alf Stong departed the firm in 1995 when he was honored to be appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Despite the loss, the firm continued to grow and prosper, along with its reputation of excellent service.
New lawyers and new partners joined the growing practice and as the digital age arrived, the firm name was changed to SBMB Law.
With a current complement of 10 lawyers, in honor of our past and with an eye on the future, we have now adopted Blackburn Lawyers as our firm name. Different name; same firm. We are committed to providing the same excellent level of personalized service provided by our founders.
Blackburn Lawyers. Good people. Great work. Since 1975.
